Temple Windows 10 Systems to be Disconnected

Windows 10 will reach end-of-life on October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support the operating system.

Over 9,000 Windows 10 computers across the university have already been replaced or upgraded. However, approximately 1,000 devices remain.

If these computers are not upgraded or replaced, they will be blocked from accessing the university network and Temple resources after October 14.

There are no exceptions. Windows 10 systems will not be permitted on Temple's network or allowed to access university resources.

Windows 11 is Microsoft's latest operating system release and the successor to Windows 10. This updated version of Windows offers enhanced security as well as a different look and feel. For more information, see our Windows 11 webpage.

October 14, 2025, is quickly approaching! We ask that departments complete a final inventory of any remaining Windows 10 systems and place replacement orders as soon as possible to avoid disruptions to business operations.

What You Can Do

  • Contact your school/college or departmental IT support staff to discuss what needs to be done to meet the October 14 deadline.

  • If you use special hardware or software with your Windows 10 environment, contact the vendor about their roadmap for Windows 11 compatibility if it is unclear. For help, contact your school/college or departmental IT support staff or enter a request at tuhelp.temple.edu.
