TUportal and Banner Major System Maintenance Scheduled

Current Status: Resolved

To keep our systems current and provide the latest functionality, Information Technology Services performed a major system upgrade on: Saturday, October 2nd starting at 10:00 am and was completed early at 5:00 pm (Eastern time) on Sunday, October 3rd. During the maintenance window, TUportal, Cognos, ODS, accounts.temple.edu and a number of Banner and related university systems were unavailable.   

Not impacted: non-Banner-related systems such as, Canvas, TUmail, Zoom, Microsoft 365 including OneDrive, MyHousing, Diamond Dollars and the TUlibrary databases, among others.

Below was the timeline provided of the best-effort estimate of service restoration and some services during the maintenance window.

Timeline for TUportal, accounts.temple.edu, Banner, Cognos and ODS

• From 7:00 am to 7:30 am (Eastern time) on Saturday, October 2nd, TUportal will be unavailable. During this time, a substitute page will appear with links to resources that will remain available, such as Canvas, TUmail, Zoom, Microsoft 365 including OneDrive, MyHousing, Diamond Dollars and the TUlibrary databases.

• From 10:00 am on Saturday, October 2nd through 12:00 noon (Eastern time) on Sunday, October 3rd, the accounts.temple.edu website will be unavailable. During this time, you will not be able to change your AccessNet password or update your security questions. Please plan accordingly.

• From 10:00 am on Saturday, October 2nd through 12:00 noon (Eastern time) on Sunday, October 3rd, TUportal will be available, but you will not be able to view any Banner-related information, such as information from:

- Staff Tools
- Next Steps
- Student Feedback Forms
- Student Account
- Registration
- Records
- Personal Information
Note: If you are a student worker, you also will not be able to view Pay and Tax Information and Personal Information under Staff Tools. In addition, TUmobile will be available, but you will not be able to view your classes or grades.

• From 10:00 am on Saturday, October 2nd through 7:00 am (Eastern time) on Monday, October 4th, TUportal will be available, but you will not be able to access the Cognos Reporting system and the TUportal Cognos Reporting channel. In addition, the ODS will be unavailable for Tableau or Power BI.

Note that any Cognos reports scheduled for this time WILL NOT run. In this case, either disable the report or reschedule it to run after the maintenance period.
